This month over at Feelin’ Feminine, I was so excited to see the Hair, Hair, Hair column! I LOVE messing with my hair, putting it up different ways, curling, straightening and doing whatever!  So FF asked us to share our pictures doing this style and I’m more than happy to! I used this for one of my challenge day’s.

I SO love this hairstyle (I even wore it to youth!) If you want to try it yourself head on over to Feelin’ Feminine and read Miss Jocelyn’s tutorial. Oh and DO NOT get discouraged by the curling it gets easier and faster the more you PRACTICE! Love to you all!

I wore this to a service on Veterans day, it was really windy so I had to hold on to my skirt, but otherwise very comfy and cute (if I do say so myself) Thanks for putting up with far too many pictures of myself! :D

Day two! Perfect outfit for me, I wore this to youth and I was perfectly comfortable. I wish I had gotten a shot of the shirt, it has The Beatles on it :D . Ummm I’m not wearing shoes in the pictures, but I wore my converse, just plain black and white.

Anywho, I curled my hair, my new favorite thing to do! And I was super happy with the cuteness of this outfit!

Challenge Day 1

Posted on November 17th, 2009 in Uncategorized

OK so this past week I took the Challenge over at Feelin’ Feminine! For those who don’t know the Challenge is basically that you wear skirts/dresses for one week (that’s seven days)

Now I’m sorry for the poorness of these pictures, I’m not very good with our camera, but you’ll get a basic idea.

:D I’m wearing a tee-shirt that my mommy got me, jean skirt from Cato’s and slip on shoes from (hottopic *gasP*) ANYWAY this is the MOST comfortable outfit like ever, not the cutest but comfortable. Easy Monday outfit. I’ll be posting the rest of my week throughout this week!

Head over to Feelin’ Feminine and check it out!

While my sewing machine gently weeps

Posted on November 9th, 2009 in Uncategorized

Ok so my mum’s sewing machine and I are NOT friends I actually yelled at it once during the sewing process.  Anyway…. I attempted a sewing project for the first time in years (like five!) and it turned out,…..recognizable? :D

I made a bag from a tank-top I had been given a while ago, I don’t wear tank-tops so I really had no use for it, now it’s  a bag!!! Here is the post which shows you how to do it, her’s turned out much better!

OK so not too bad right? I like it, I’ll most likely use it to hold stuff in, but it’s cute. I am going to be working on my sewing! I hope to get to the point where I can sew dresses and feel comfortable with the machine, because right now it’s scaring me!!! :D

Peanutbutter cookies

Posted on October 7th, 2009 in all in the family

So I had some requests for my recipe for the picture below. I thought I’d just post it and some more pictures I have!

1/2 cup of butter, room temp.

1/2 cut shortening

1 cup white sugar

1 cup packed brown sugar

2 eggs

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups flour (all purpose or baking whatever)

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1. Cream the butter and the shortening, and sugars. Add in the eggs. Add peanut butter and vanilla. Add all the dry ingredients and blend.

2. Measure out tablespoonfuls of dough, take a fork and dip into sugar making a criss-cross shape and flattening the cookies.

3. Bake at 375 degrees F. (190 C) for about 9 minutes.

Ok so a few notes on these, #1. They make A LOT, really it’s a rather large recipe so make sure your up to eating them. #2 Don’t worry if you pull the cookies out of the oven and they don’t look very dark, the heat from the pan will finish to cook them and I’ve found that if you leave them in any longer they get really crunchy-crispy.

I love making these, I bake them almost every week and sell them at our local farmers market, along with sugar cookies, snicker doodles, chocolate chip, and homemade Oreo cookies! It’s a fun hobby and I make a little money in the process ;) I hope you all enjoy!

God bless!!!

Bought laundry soap’s a thing of the past

Posted on September 14th, 2009 in Uncategorized

So it’s been  a while right? Give me some slack I’m still getting the hang of this.

This past week I officially dubbed “homemade things week”, that meant that I had several recipes for everyday items that I wanted to make my self. The one that turned out truly wonderful was my homemade laundry detergent!

mosaicb8e4f0319a24ea3288372358d895edd30d1eec9c

1.) All the ingredients (except water) 2.) Fels-Naptha soap bar. Found where you buy your pre-made laundry soap, it’s a bit bigger than your regular bar soap. We used this because it smells wonderful and it’s a heavy-duty cleaner (you can use any bar soap you want) 3.) Borax wonderful cleaning stuffs. 4.) WASHING soda not baking soda do not use baking soda. 5.) An empty dispenser, cleaned out.  6&7.) I used our food processor to grate the soap up, it looked like cheese to me.  8.) Boil down with water, add LOTS more water. 9.) Play the waiting game, all night 10&11.) Beautiful gooy soap consecrate. 12.) Mix and add 1-2 ratio of water and
soap!

It worked out beautiful for me, I cut the recipe in half so I have more than enough to make another batch when needed. It smells wonderful and it’s getting our clothing beautifully clean! I am very happy with how it turned out, and I must admit I’m a bit proud of myself for doing this all on my own, I did not mess one thing up! :D I encourage you all to try it, if your up to it!
God bless!
