I was so excited in winter 2007 ago when my friend, Brooke, decided to challenge girls around the world, for a week, to be fearlessly feminine. She did a wonderful job on keeping up with her posts daily, sharing her feminine outfits and thoughts. It really made me smile, and even moreso when I saw how many girls were taking up the challenge. Perhaps our world has lost the sweet idea of be feminine, but it is a heart-warming feeling to know its not completely lost.

I enjoyed getting to see other young ladies’ feminine dress photos and hearing their convictions about being feminine. I decided that I wanted to continue to encourage young ladies once a month to go all out being feminine and if able post about it on their blogs. This is how Feelin’ Feminine got started.

The Challenge

The challenge is to wear only skirts/dresses for an entire week of seven days, and then post a photo of your outfits (head to toe) on your blog. If you don’t have exactly seven different skirts, that’s alright. Mix and match with different shirts. We can be not only feminine and modest, but frugal too!

What is on the inside will show on the outside so dressing in a feminine manner in this way shows what we desire and strive for at  heart. Why dresses and skirts, you ask? Read through the website. Dressing in a feminine manner doesn’t mean you must loose your respectability. It means you value your respectability and wish to honour to the Father and to yourself more than the whims of society.

If you want to “personalize” your outfit a bit more you can add a hat, a scarf, a headband, a matching purse  – whatever you like! You can also style your hair in different ways each day. We do want to encourage you to remember our focus is not to be fashionable or blend in with the world, but to be set apart in our dress.

While there are no outfit ‘requirements’, we do ask, for the sake of our mission, writers, and readers please make sure that your dresses and skirts are at least knee length and that none of your shirts are sleeveless. Show us pictures of daily activities of you in your skirts.

I’ve heard a lot of ladies tell me that they don’t like wearing skirts because they can’t be active in them. I very much so disagree. I’ve worn skirts everyday since 2005 and they haven’t stifled my activity in the least. I still do all the things I used to do, but in a more mindful and ladylike way. Try it.

Already Wear Skirts?

If you already wear skirts on a regular basis, please don’t let that stop you. Participate anyway! This is for all ladies – ask your mother, sisters, grandmas, aunts, and girlfriends to do it with you! Post a flier at your church – email us, we will send you one to print out!

The Goal Of The Challenge:

As our Mission Statement says we want to encourage, inspire, and challenging young ladies to rediscover the treasure of dressing in a feminine manner. Do some evaluating of yourself at the end of the week and compare it to your regular way of dress. These questions should help you along:

How was the experience for you?

Any particular stories?

Did wearing skirts rather than pants affect the way you felt?

The way you felt about yourself?

The way you acted?

The way you carried yourself?

Were you able to go about everyday activity as freely as pants?

How did people respond?

After the challenge do you desire to keep wearing skirts more regularly, or were you desperate to wear pants again?

If you’d like to have your answers to the above questions share on the site, please go here to do so. We’d love to hear them.

The Challenge usually “officially” takes place at the beginning of each month for a week. We will post an article with a link to the host-blog so you can join in with other participants. This certainly does not mean we only want you to actually do the challenge then or don’t do it because you missed the first day. We always want to see photos and always want you to join us, no matter how late in the week! There are usually “extra” challenges as well. Some of the extra challenges can be found under “The Challenge” category on the welcome page.

We also encourage you to put the Feelin’ Feminine icon (code on sidebar) on your site and join the Feelin’ Feminine Blogroll.

Shalom!

I held a challenge for me and 3 of my friends back in November and I’m possibly doing another one later this month! If you go over to my blog on the right hand side the label “The challenge” that’s where you’ll find the posts from the week I held a challenge!

    God bless!

    Hello Miss Jocelyn,

I wanted to thank you for this great idea. I have been wearing skirts and dresses exclusively for over a year, and predominantly for several years. I am significantly older than you and likely most of your followers and admit that my motivation for joining your blog was to get my daughter reading it (I thoroughly enjoy and commend you for it.) I hope you do not mind but a dear friend and I (who also is a skirt wearer) have started our own little challenge on facebook. We have used your idea, tweeked it a little, and included your questions at the end. This came about because my daughter wanted to take it and invite some of her friends to take it too, but because she is not allowed an email account, she could not figure out how to do this. Hence my joining.

I have a facebook account and so we thought she could post pics on my account, and her friends on their mom’s account. This is now snowballing into what will likely end up with a ladies Strawberry tea at our Church to start a challenge with the young ladies there.

I am so grateful for this as until your blog and challenge my daughter has fought me tooth and nail about feminine attire. She is now excited about it and wants to encourage her other Catholic friends to join in. What a blessing!

God Bless you and thank you again for your courage and imagination. You are truly doing God’s work!!!

Ok so I found your facebook group and wanted to post a link to our facebook challenge. Could not figure out how to do this but can email you a link, cause I am not computer savy and that is the best I can do. If you have any suggestions as to how I can go about posting it the group I would love to hear it. I tried including the group in the tags but it would not recognize it…I really am quite computer dense! That goodness my husband is a computer geek…we compliment each other well that way! lol

And I believe my daughter has or is going to stop by, her name is Ivania Navarro.

    Blessings,
    Dominique

PS we sure are having fun with the challenge even though I am already a committed skirt wearer!

  12. I just wanted to state that I would have to agree with what was stated on March 11, 2009. There has always been an inner “war” (if you will) within me: I desire to wear skirts and dresses and dress overtly-feminine, but we live in such a culture where such a thing is nearly unheard of, and when it is the purpose is not for femininity (more common than not) but rather for catching the eye of men. Sadly enough, I live in a rather cold climate, and so it is nearly impossible to wear skirts all the time, but I did participate in the challenge and found it a wonderful excuse to wear skirts every day of the week! It was enjoyable and I highly recommend it!

I love the idea of the feelin’ feminine challenge. Do you have any advice on how to keep my legs warm & protect my feet while chasing our two-year old all over our yard & the adjacent woods in the middle of February? I’d love to wear skirts more often, but csn’t find a way over that hump. I’d wear sneakers, but I think they look goofy and inappropriate with skirts & dresses. I’ve found some wool tights on the internet, but they cost as much as the skirts themselves. I’d appreciate any input you might have.

Hi Miss Jocelyn, I want to take up The Challenge! Next Tuesday I will be 65 …. I hope that doesn’t mean I am too old? I live in the High Peak district of Derbyshire – Pride and Prejudice country, and am sad to see how we Christian women in the `UK have lost the idea of being feminine. Thank you for reminding us. It is an inspiration and joy to me to have “stumbled” upon a group of lovely young Christian, home schooled, Christ-centred young ladies who truly seek to honour our Lord in the very essence of their lives ….. and then to share it in their blogs. May God richly bless you.
I will be in skirts or dresses from now, just think of the places the Victorian ladies went to and what they did in SKIRTS!
    Blessings!, Val

  20. I already wear skirts and dresses all the time, but I’ve always concentrated more on modesty than femininity. I thank you for starting this blog. It has really gotten me thinking. I would like to take the challenege (for fun) but my camera is broken at the moment. Please pray it gets fixed soon, so I can do the challenge on my blog, “Learning Life’s Lessons”. God Bless! =D

My friends and I have decided to take the challenge for 7/25-7/31 (due to our crazy vacation schedules)! This has truly been a blessing to stumble upon, as it is drawing us closer through a Godly program. We are also in different states, so this has been a great way to maintain contact and connect via our spiritual growth.
