In their trouble they cried to YHVH, and he rescued them from their distress. He led them from darkness, from death-dark gloom, shattering their chains. Let them give thanks to YHVH for his grace, for his wonders bestowed on humanity! -Psalm 107:13-15
As reading through Exodus this week I re-observed the hand of YHWH and His faithfulness to the Israelites; particularly in the redemption from Egypt. As they started their trek after watching the hand of their Mighty Savior obliterate their pursuing enemies, they sang:
Yah is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation. This is my God: I will glorify him; my father’s God: I will exalt him. YHVH is a warrior; YHVH is his name.
Pharaoh’s chariots and his army he hurled into the sea. His elite commanders were drowned in the Sea of Suf. Your right hand, YHVH, is sublimely powerful; your right hand, YHVH, shatters the foe.
By your great majesty you bring down your enemies; you send out your wrath to consume them like stubble. With a blast from your nostrils the waters piled up -the waters stood up like a wall, the depths of the sea became firm ground.
The enemy said, ‘I will pursue and overtake, divide the spoil and gorge myself on them. I will draw my sword; my hand will destroy them.’ You blew with your wind, the sea covered them, they sank like lead in the mighty waters.
Who is like you, YHVH, among the mighty? Who is like you, sublime in holiness, awesome in praises, working wonders? You reached out with your right hand: the earth swallowed them. In your love, you led the people you redeemed; in your strength, you guided them to your holy abode.
-Exodus 15:2-13
As a follower of the same God, who the above verses are written about, I am quite humbled. His lovingkindness is boundless and His justice is unmeasurable to those who trust and follow after His voice.
I will betroth you to me forever; yes, I will betroth you to me in righteousness, in justice, in grace and in compassion; I will betroth you to me in faithfulness, and you will know YHVH.
-Hosea 2:19-20
