When you are settled, I hope you’ll give a ball.
Oh, yes, my dear, do!
Would a ball be well received?

Well, perhaps a ball might not be the best proposal online, but a tour, I should think, will be plenty well-received! Do you not think so, Miss Austen? Yes, here at Feelin’ Feminine we have decided to host a 2010 Jane Austen tour and have invited anyone who wishes to attend to join us! What is a tour, you may ask?

TOUR, n.
1. Literally, a going round; hence, a journey in a circuit; as the tour of Europe; the tour of France or England.
2. A turn; a revolution; as the tours of the heavenly bodies. [Not now in use.]
3. A turn; as a tour of duty; a military use of the word.
4. A tress or circular border of hair on the head, worn sometimes by both sexes.
5. A tower. [Not in use.]

While we shall not be touring the lakeside or the country of Derbyshire on our tour we will be doing plenty of site-seeing! The idea of the tour is to re-visit Jane Austen’s era and novels by re-creating fashions, depictions, foods, crafts, etc. on your own blog and then enter them into the appropriate category for judging. At the end of the event our panel of judges will chose what they consider the best, most creative, most original, etc entry, and we will announce the three-top choices, for each category. When those winners are announced our readers will have a chance to vote on a grand-prize winner.

Why Jane Austen? I have seen several re-creation events of different popular novels, and thought it would be fun to do my own! Jane Austen instantly came to mind as the perfect theme for this event! Her novels are so widely known, loved, and do exhibit a distinction between ladylike and less than ladylike behaviour.

The event will officially begin on July 19th so start getting ready!

    Dear miss Jocelyn.
What an absolute coincidence. I live in Spain, as you must know by now, but before I was married my hometown was attached to the very place where Jane Austen used to live, Chawton, in Hampshire. When I was a small girl my family went around her house in a guided visit. I played with her tortoises, and run around a maze she had in the back garden. Right across the lane to her house there is a tea room where you can buy scones and cream and home made jam and have a hot cup of tea!!

I will be following your ‘tour’, for sure, as it will remind me of the green, green grass of home!

    Hi Dear Jocelyn,

I loved the idea. Let me see if I understood welk, I can participate, trying to create that novel (food, clothing, etc) then take pictures and post in my blog? If it is like this I will tell my friend she also loves Jane Austen´s novels, she would be very excited! Me and her could do it together :)

I would love to participate. Am I allowed to use a post that I made last week?? Or does it have to be something completely new this week? The reason I ask is I just attended the Jane Austen Festival in Kentucky, and I have some really wonderful tutorials, food, costumes, etc. that I’ve recently blogged about.

I will go ahead and post a banner on my blog just in case you accept these.
