I know Miss Kate just talked about your feet last week, but this is a very important subject to discuss. We all certainly use our feet a lot and they don’t get much of a break. Therefore, it would be wise that we take care of them. Most of us probably wear our shoes a lot and we might have some foot odor problems. I don’t know about you, but it’s embarrassing to have odors coming out from your socks and shoes. Yuck! It’s just plain smelly! Don’t worry anymore about those annoying odors. I have found some solutions for them.
1. What causes your foot odor? It’s simply bacteria. What kills bacteria? You can use coconut oil, a natural antibiotic, or olive oil. You can rub it all over your feet like you are putting on a lotion. Just a thin layer. Put on some socks and go to bed.
2. Use a few Lemon tea bags, steep in almost boiling water for at least 5 minutes. Add tea to a small foot bath with some cool water to reach a warm temp. Soak your feet for 15 minutes and rinse.
3. Mix a together a mixture of vinegar (NOT apple cider vinegar) and hot water. Soak feet for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse.
4. For extra-sweaty feet, try adding a half a cup of kosher salt (it has larger crystals than ordinary table salt) to a quart of water and soak your feet in the solution. After soaking, don’t rinse your feet; just dry them off thoroughly. Salt has a drying effect on your skin.
5. Sprinkle the inside of your shoes with some cornstarch or baking soda to help absorb the moisture and keep your feet drier.
6. One other thing that you can do for your feet is to wear open shoes once in awhile. It allows air onto the feet, which helps to evaporate sweat and slows the growth of odor-causing bacteria. It also lets your feet breath a little.
In Him,

Great advice, Emily!

Wonderful tips Emily! Thank you for sharing! That tea one sounds really good, even if you DON’T have foot odor problems! ;) It would be like a spa bath for your feet! :)

Hmm.. perhaps I will mention these ideas to my 4 younger brothers.. :-)
Really.. it is no fun to have stinky shoes and feet. These ideas look really helpful.
I just love natural remedies… and wearing open shoes like sandals. But my rubber boots are nice for around the yard. :-)

Something I’ve found that works well is a combination of corn starch and baking soda, about 5:1 or thereabouts. You can add essential oils for a nice smell. I dust this on my feet to keep the bacteria -and the smells- away.
It also works well as an underarm deodorant; I’ve been using it for over a year and haven’t had body odor in all that time.
Lovely site, thank you so much, I am so pleased to have discovered your site today.
