Here is a hairstyle that works well with medium to long-length hair. French twists are great because they are very versatile and can be done for any occasion; every day or with curls and little clips for something a little more festive.

To start, side part the hair and use a comb to take the first inch or two of hair on the front side of the head.

Next, separate the hair into two sections:

Cross the right section over the left, giving it a little twist.

Continue the motion down the side of the head, taking sections of hair as you go and adding them to the main right section right before you cross over.

Keep going… all the way down, going a little past the neck. Have the person getting their hair done hold onto the twist at the end.

Do the same on the other side of the head:

So, now you have two twists. Take both, and combine the sections together. Separate combined twists in to three sections.

Start doing a basic braid, and braid all the way down to bottom of the hair, or as far as you like. Tie with an elastic.

You’re done! Feel free to add decorative accessories, but this style looks great natural too.

  2. Oh, Serenity! That is lovely! :D It reminds me of those gorgeous hairstyles from medieval times! :D If my hair was longer, I’d try this, but alas, my hair is still short (shoulder length) from when my sister cut it, uh, not so straight, and had to clip more off to make it so. ;) HeHe! I can’t wait until my hair grows out more so I can try it! :D It’s so beautiful!

    Blessings!

That is so cute!! I love the hairstyles you have on here. My hair was really long last summer, (think almost waist-length) and I went and cut it to about shoulder-length. I miss my hair **sob**! Thank goodness it grows back, I think I’ve learned my lesson :) What would you recommend for shoulder-length hair?
