Saturday Psalm & Praise

People are all a bustle getting all the supplies they need to prepare their great feasts and giving of thanks, and yet, as I dwell on these thoughts, and more specifically, the food in general, my heart lingers on one specific thought. Though we eat and drink to keep our bodies health and receive energy, we are never fully and wholly satisfied. Our satisfaction lasts for a little while and then we are hungry again. This idea made me stop and think about how Yahweh-God satisfies our souls. We read the Scriptures and pray often. However, we keep coming back for more. David wrote about this that describes this idea perfectly.

Psalm 42:1-2a

“Just as a deer longs for running streams, God, I long for you. I am thirsty for God, for the living God!”

Water is something every person needs in order to get through the day, just as we need Yahwe’s Word. Without water, we wouldn’t be able to survive. It’s the same with the Scriptures. His Word keeps us going. It energizes, strengthens, humbles, brings joy and love, and gives so much more! So many people hunger for the Living Word and don’t have the opportunity to read it. Yet many of us have several at our finger tips. Are you thankful for this gift and have you taken advantage of the blessing he’s given to you? Or have you forgotten? The things of this world may bring temporary pleasure, but only the Word of Yahweh can quench the thirsting of our souls.

My family sang this hymn in church a while back and I thought it a fitting end to this post.

Fill My Cup, Lord

By: Richard Blanchard

Like the woman at the well I was seeking

For things that could not satisfy;

And then I heard my Savior speaking:

“Draw from My well that never shall run dry.”

(Chorus)

Fill my cup, Lord– I lift it up, Lord!

Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;

Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more–

Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

There are millions in this world who are craving

The pleasures earthly things afford;

But none can match the wondrous treasure

That I find in Yahushua Messiah [Jesus Christ] my Lord.

So, my brother, if the things this world gave you

Leave hungers that won’t pass away,

My blessed Lord will come and save you,

If you kneel to Him and humbly pray:

(Chorus)

Fill my cup, Lord– I lift it up, Lord!

Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;

Bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more–

Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

We thank him for all the things he’s given us, but the biggest and greatest blessing is that of the written Word. As you continue with all your hustle and bustle remember this one thing… We can only find true satisfaction in Yahweh-God. Nothing can compare to His Magnificence!
