Living Beauty

It’s an obvious fact that emotions, whether positive or negative, effect the way we feel physically. Nervousness releases a swarm of butterflies in the stomach, Anger makes the neck muscles tense, and elation makes us feel like we’re walking on air. Immediately, as well as over time, emotions can have a dramatic affect on how we look. It’s an old axiom that “sin is a thing that writes itself across a man’s face.” This is very true indeed. Just take a look in your minds eye at the sour old scrooge who sits at the street corner glowering every day and contrast his visage to that of the joyful homeless woman who feeds the pigeons on the steps of city hall. To which would you ascribe better looks? Compare the cruel middle aged executive who’s skin is satiny smooth and perfectly tan to the 90-year-old inmate at the nursing home who’s smile never seems to fade? Which would you call beautiful? I’m not one to say that looks don’t matter at all, however I think it’s safe to say that without inner beauty, outer beauty is altogether spoiled.
Begin and end everyday by giving your worries, stresses and negative attitudes to the Lord. Smile even when you don’t feel like it. Stand up straight and be confidant in who God made you to be. Allow the peace of the Holy Spirit to abide in you. Relinquish the stress that comes with trying to grasp control over your life and give your circumstances over to Yahushua’s [Jesus] safe keeping. Choose to always treat your fellow creatures with dignity, mercy and kindness, even when you feel they don’t deserve it. See everything through the lens of Messiah’s loving heart. Living in this way will not only bring you overflowing joy and touch the lives of those around you for the Messiah, but will bring a glow to the face, a lilt to the step, and implant the countenance with a beauty literally beyond this world.

You hit it head on , truly you have.

Lovely Miss Kate, and so true! I have seen older women in my church who from the outward appearances may not be called beautiful, but who are beautiful women because they have beautiful spirits. :) It’s something rare and more special than the fake beauty of today. Thank you for the reminder to cast our cares on God, and not hold them inside and try to take care of them all ourselves. That’s very important! ;)
Love and Hugs and Blessings!

Oh, thanks so much for this, Miss Kate! This was such encouragement to me tonight.. I was just battling the ‘after-dinner clean-up blues’, and doing an awful lot of inner complaining. I kept thinking how I know I should have a sunny countenance and let Yahushua’s light shine through me, but I just couldn’t make myself enjoy washing those greasy, dirty dishes!:-(
After reading this article, I felt more encouraged to set my focus straight, and get back on track.
Your sister in Christ,
Leah Kathryn
