SP&P: My Help Comes from Adonai
Do you sometimes struggle to know that God is REALLY there for you? Is there something that you have been praying for for years, and yet it still hasn’t happened yet? At times, we can loose faith and trust in God, not completely maybe, but it just gets hard to really know He is there and taking care of us. My family has been through lots of financial problems in the past 7 years. We have had times where we had to fully rely on God every day for food and clothes and a roof over our heads. The only thing that helped us through, was knowing He was there providing for us and loving us. We saw Him work in marvelous ways during those years and even now as well. One day, when I was especially down and just crying and crying and feeling so alone, He guided me to these verses in the WORD. They have been such a comfort to me, and I hope they will be a comfort and an encouragement to you. I would encourage you to read along in yours and compare the words in the versions.
Psalm 121
“A song of ascents: If I raise my eyes to the hills, from where will my help come? My help comes from ADONAI, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip-your guardian is not asleep. No, the guardian of Israel never slumbers or sleeps. ADONAI is your guardian; at your right hand he provides with shade; the sun can’t strike you during the day or even the moon at night. ADONAI will guard you against all harm; he will guard your life. ADONAI will guard your coming and going from now on and forever.”
When you are having a hard day and you feel alone or you don’t feel God near you and you need comfort, read these verses. God promises never to leave or forsake us. Hold on to those promises! He knows our futures and we can trust in Him that He will take care of us and be there for us whenever we need Him! Remember, He cares for the sparrows and He knows if even one of them falls to the ground… He knows us and loves us even more than that. Trust in Yahweh!

Dear Rachel~I really agree with you. I have been praying for God to take away an affliction I have for many years now~more than 20 years~but He chooses not to. I feel like Paul asking God to take away the thorn in his side~but God wanted Paul to rely on His strength and not his own. Psalm 121 is so beautiful and encouraging! Come and visit my blog I am posting a Psalm and Praise meme. Blessings, Rose

I guess it’s not a a song, only a verse of a song:
Praise You in This Storm
I was sure by now,God, that You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it’s still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.
Chorus:
And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can’t find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away
Chorus
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
Chorus

God bless you Rachel! This is so timely… and I needed to hear this so much, and to recall all the times past when He did provide for me!
Thank you so much!

Dear Miss Rachel (and the reply by Miss Jocelyn),
These words (& their timing) have been a powerful reminder that God does Not forsake.
Each day, I wake up with pain (and sometimes awoken by it during the night). I get weary of it. “I let the pain and my negative thoughts take over. As a result, this dark cloud around me kept growing, and growing, and growing!”*
The Lord heard my heart’s cry and has given to me many words of Biblical encouragement (thus, watering my soul and cooling the fire of despiair). These words have contributed in a very significant way.
Thank you.
grateful for the Potter’s continued workmanship, HveHope

Blessings,
Jenna

I know what you mean when you say you had to rely on God fully for food and clothing etc. My family has gone through that as well. My dad is a handy man and though he’s had steady work it dosn’t always make a lot so we’re still trusting God financially.
Also I love the song Praise You In This Storm by casting crowns its one of my favorites, as well as Voice of Truth.

Yes, my dad has been a sort of “Jack-of-all-trades”. He was a handy man as well, right now he fixes X-boxes. I’ll be praying for you Allison! Thank you for your comment!
Oh, I love the Voice of Truth! It gives me chills! :D
Blessings!
