SP&P – Heavenly Sunlight
It has been all sunshine and cool breezes at my house the past few weeks. I have had such a peace and joy in all of this beautiful weather and have had such a heart of worship. While not all times in life are sunny and joyful, we can be at peace just knowing that our heavenly father loves us and is always watching over us. I think the song, “Heavenly Sunshine” is a great example of this. Even in life’s trials, we can still have sunshine in our hearts just by remembering God’s love for us.
Heavenly Sunshine
Walking in sunlight, all of the journey;
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said “I’ll never forsake thee,”
Promise divine that never can fail.
(Chorus)
Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
flooding my soul with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
Singing his praises, Jesus is mine.
Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and Guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I’m walking close to His side.
In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises gladly I’m walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.
I think a lot of times when we are having life trials and tribulations, we forget to praise God and thank Him for the things we “do” have. It is so important to God that we continue to have joy and praise His name, even when times are tough. I hope this song is both a challenge and an encouragement to you today. Have joy in the “Light” and make sure to spread God’s light around to others too! :)
Please join me by posting a song or psalm, and do the Saturday Psalm & Praise meme today. Just post a favourite psalm or praise song.

Yes, you are right. We often forget to praise Him during times of trouble, but as I’ve learned praise Him in everything because for some reasons we were put through it for His glory!

Amen Jessica (and Jocelyn)! :) Jessica, I am so proud of you and so proud to be your sister! :) That is such a wonderful reminder!
I love the words to this hymn! “He is the light, in Him is no darkness”…”Jesus has said “I’ll never forsake thee”… Wow! That’s powerful! :) Even in the hardest of times, we can be thankful just to have a God who loves us and cares for us and is watching out for us! He will always be right there with us! We serve a mighty God! :) And yes, sometimes, God does give us trials and things, but in the end, they can make us come out for the better! ;)
Blessings!

Dear Miss Jessica ~
I love this song. It evokes very happy memories of sitting in church freshly married. :)
Please know how much I appreciate your (probably tedious) efforts in typing out the words to these lovely hymns. Often, I will ‘cut & paste’ them into my “daily ‘prayer notes’ journal” for further reflection. So, thank you!
It also reminded me of an article I read today on the subject of suffering:
Learning to Live In Hope – The Goodness of God How do we learn to live with hope? How do we all travel the road from suffering to hope together as one Christian community?
The answer to this question [may be] found in our openness to journey down the path of suffering.
I do believe we would be better served if we learned to pray with an awareness that God might respond with the word “no†With such an awareness we might be better prepared to embrace the journey in healthy, faithful ways.
One of these ways is lament. Biblical lament first validates the feelings of disappointment, anger, and sheer wonder that suffering evokes. When we journey together in lament, over time the narrative of our worship and fellowship is opened in unspeakable ways to the promise of hope, to the promise of future, to live in the vision of The Voice from the throne who says “I am making everything new!†(Revelation 21:5).
