Books are a great part of my life. One of my favorite pastimes is sitting down with a great book and just reading! I think Miss Jane Austen worded it correctly in saying this;

“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book!”

There are SO many books out there to read, and while some of them are great and informative, you do have to be careful of what you pick up sometimes. The website Training Daughters Teaching Wives has pulled together a list of books that are wonderful for any young lady. Some of my favorites are definitely on there! Books and reading does add so much to your life (especially when you enjoy it!). So what is your favorite book? And where is your favorite place to read?

I’ve seen two blog posts today that have asked what your favorite book is. I’ve been thinking about it for hours and I still can’t decide. Probably Little Women, as I’ve read that numerous times, adore the movie, and could read it any day of the week and be content.

Oh, yes, that is such a great list! How is it possible to choose a single favorite book??? I must have hundreds! But I would say that a few of my favorites are So Much More by Anna & Sophia Botkin, Leslie Ludy’s books on femininity, The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, the Mitford series by Jan Karon, and a whole host more! How blessed we as Americans are to have access to so many wonderful Godly books!

It seems that every time I read a new book it becomes my favorite! :D They just get better and better!

I’m currently reading Little Women, though. And I absolutely adore it!
As for where I like to read. I normally read in my room, but enjoy reading outside every once in a while. Really, it’s wherever I can get some peace and quiet.
    :D

Wow… a favorite book….for a girl whose family has collected and read literally thousands of books, that’s a tough choice! But here are a few : Emma , Jayne Eyre , Authentic Beauty (Leslie Ludy) , Before you meet Prince Charming ( Sarah Mally) ,One night with the king , Not my will , Ben-Hur, Do hard things, and many, many more :-) Pretty much anything by Jane Austen, the Ludys , the Mallys, or Louisa May Alcott is always a great choice !

    Sharla's reply:

You have great taste! I have to ask though you really like Ben Hur? I am having SUCH a hard time getting past the beginning I’ve been told it get’s better as you go along, do you agree? I didn’t know One Night With the King was a book I’ll have to find that! Thank you so much for your comment.

    Miss EricaAnn's reply:

Yes, Ben-Hur really does get better as you go along! (okay , so you do have to get past the whole chapter describing a camel all the way down to the flea on it’s back) But it does have a very interesting story line , if you can focus on that through all the superfluous details. Have you read the Scarlet Letter? I’m going to try reading that one again, but I think it’s very much the same situation, a great book so packed with detail that finding the storyline is like a treasure hunt :-)

    Sharla's reply:

Hahah So true! Ok I’m going to stick with it ;)
I did pick up the Scarlet Letter, but I did not get very far. I’m going to have to try it again.

My favorite is “The Princess Adelina”. It’s an Esther-like tale and I have read it at least twice now! I started to read it again at the Dr. last week and almost finished it while there (I was there a looong time)! ;) Lol! It’s really good! I would recommend it to all young ladies! :)

    Blessings!

My favourite book is Jane Eyre, though I must confess that lately I have become more fond of Anne Brontë’s works than her sisters’! The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë is wonderful.

I also love detective novels like Agatha Christie’s books, and I love her Miss Marple series. I read a lot of historical fiction too, and I like Sharon Penman’s books. I don’t much care for Dickens or Austen (he uses 10 words when one will do, and I find her books dull) but please don’t hold that against me :p

    [Reply to this Comment]

    Sharla's reply:

That’s awesome I love Jane Eyre too. I’ve not read the Miss Marple series, but I’ve seen the T.V. show LoL. I will try REALLY hard not to hold not liking Jane Austen against you :D Just kidding Everybody likes something different! Thanks so much for the comment!
