“Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is a book about how America as a nation has slowly, yet steadily stripped off her clothes and allowed nakedness in her citizens. This book explains through the years how Feminism has her hand in purposefully undressing American citizens and exploiting them. This book shows also how the media as encouraged disrobing of America by starting with stripping material off of swim suits and promoting the Feminist agenda. The theme of this book is modesty and how America has come far from being modest in actions and in clothing. “Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is backed by Scripture; however, the author also uses secular sources for information in the book, to show the difference between the Bible and the secular world. The author did a good job in tying the theme of modesty into the book. Mr. Pollard does not only cover modesty in regard to clothing but also in action, his methods to tying the theme of modesty in the book are excellent.
“Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” in my opinion are for men and women ages 16 and above. I believe that this book is for the ages of 16 and above as although it is not very descriptive it is still best to have older children and adults read it only to protect the minds of the younger ages, of course the parents of the children should decide if the child is mature for the book or not.

“Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is very beneficial to the reader; I had a pen and piece of paper with me to write down quotes and Scripture that spoke to me while reading the book. This book also enlightened my eyes and caused me to ponder how I can change in regards to modesty. “Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is a book that needs to be read through from cover to cover. The author provides sources and an appendix for the information that he used in the book. Readers should go through this book with prayer as to allow God to work in your hearts in regards to modesty; I would encourage the readers to pray that God would open their hearts to how they can change in the area of modesty so to be God pleasing and not world pleasing.

“Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is an excellent book that should be read not only once but over and over again to remind us the importance of Biblical modesty. I would definitely recommend this book to my friends. I like how the author used Scripture to back up his apologetic, as Scripture should be the foundation in all things in the Christian life. I also liked how the author used secular quotes and sources to show the attitude of the people who were promoting the public undressing of America as they did not promote this nakedness in ignorance but with the full knowledge of what they are doing. I cannot think of anything that I did not care for in the book as it was well rounded, well researched, and edifying.

In conclusion, “Christian Modesty and the Public Undressing of America” is a great tool to be used in promoting modesty in our nation which prides in her nakedness, may we as Christians put our clothes back on and be a light in the world of darkness, being examples of Christian modesty in behavior and apparel.

I have listened to the CD that is titled the same as the book and it was wonderful and very encouraging as well. In the future I would love to buy the book and read it as well. A wonderful renew and a great reminder that all of us as christians need to remember why we are being modest and need to be lights in this area.

I was just reading an article about Miss California’s (Miss Prejean) spot in a Conservative ad. It reminded me of the flack she received regarding her stand on same sex marriage. Albeit, I give her credit for taking a stand on the issue. I did believe she waivered a bit, but I’ll chalk that up to her nerves.

What I really wanted to focus on was the fact that she did not feel any shame standing in front of millions with barely anything on. What I saw was someone who claimed Jesus as her Savior, and obviously didn’t feel that certain scripture applied to her. I hardly think the Lord was pleased just because she stood on a controversial (and biblical) position. I could stop here and give all the appropriate scripture that would apply about modest appearance.

Be careful now before your pride sets you up above Ms. Prejean. You, or I may not be standing naked in front of the world physically, but are we standing naked in front of the world spiritually? Do we pick and choose which aspects of scripture we want to abide by? I don’t know about you, but I know I am guilty. Outwardly, I’m not flaunting my nakedness, but every once in a while someone gets a glimpse of shoulder through a cold attitude. What people don’t understand is the outward appearance speaks of our inward man. It is a true revealing of the heart.

Here are some suggestions to avoid spiritual nakedness:

    1. Ask yourself is Jesus has done a work in your heart? Is there evidence of Him in your life?
    2. Stay close to him through obedience to his word
    a. Attend church faithfully
    b. Study his word daily
    c. Obey his word
    d. Clean out your filthy closet daily (repent of things he shows you are displeasing)
    3. Share Him with others

If you follow these principles, then it will never occur to you to enter a Miss America pageant because your beauty will be from within, you won’t have to prove it to anyone, and modesty will never be an issue. On the other hand, if you have never had Jesus do a work in your heart through repentence, then you are spiritually naked.
